English Literature Department Lecturers from Unsrat Hold Community Service at SMP Negeri 5 Tenga

 

 

Minahasa Selatan, May 23, 2025 – Lecturers from the English Literature Department, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Sam Ratulangi University (Unsrat), carried out a Community Service Program (PKM) at SMP Negeri 5 Tenga, Boyong Atas Village, Tenga Subdistrict, South Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi Province, on Friday (May 23, 2025).

The event, held from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. local time, was attended by lecturers, students, and the PKM organizing committee. The program aimed to provide outreach and assistance to junior high school students, while also strengthening the link between higher education and local communities, particularly in the field of English language and literature.

During the program, the lecturers delivered materials designed to broaden students’ knowledge and inspire their motivation to learn in today’s global era. Students from Unsrat also played an active role in mentoring participants through various interactive sessions.

The SMP Negeri 5 Tenga community—teachers, staff, and students—warmly welcomed the initiative. The school expressed its appreciation for the contribution of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences in selecting the school as the venue for this year’s PKM activities.

After the outreach sessions concluded, lecturers, students, and the PKM committee continued with fellowship activities at the school before returning to Manado.

This activity reflects Unsrat’s ongoing commitment to the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly the pillar of community service, by bringing academic knowledge and social benefits closer to the people of South Minahasa.
